Briefing of Merican Slang
Inspired by the Dictionary of American Slang, Merican Slang, Albuquerque’s premier funk band, was established in April, 2011. Merican Slang is often described as experimental and unique; “Merican Slang’s music has been likened to the JBs and the Meters” (Local IQ Magazine). Merican Slang attracts a regional fan base which loves to dance and party until last call! “They’re a booty poppin’ party band” (Local Alibi).
Merican Slang is an iHeart Radio artist and their debut album, “Livin’ in Merica” and EP "4 on the 4th" are played all over the web and are also available for purchase on all major online stores (iTunes, Amazon.com, Google Play, etc.)
Merican Slang tours regionally and have performed nearly every week of the year for 5 years straight. This tireless schedule has them performing at many popular clubs, music festivals and concert venues all around the southwest and as far as the Pacific. The group’s unique musical arrangements and high energy stage presence elevates the music experience for fans of live music of any genre! When Merican Slang takes the stage, it’s time to dance!

Merican Slang employs a full-time publicity team committed to implementing successful promotion campaigns in their booked venues’ surrounding areas. Promotions, in cooperation with the venues, may include but are not limited to social media campaigns, posting of bills where allowed, use of street teams, newspaper and on-line advertising, live television and radio station in-studio performances and/or interviews.
